Operation
SG-4000/SG-5000/SG-5000C: Fuel is drawn from the fuel
tank by the electric fuel pump, which pushes fuel to the fuel filter/water
separator. Filtered fuel passes through a line from the outlet fitting
on the filter base to the high pressure fuel pump.
The
high pressure fuel pump supplies high pressure fuel to the common
rail. The common rail acts as a reservoir for the high pressure fuel
and supplies the high pressure fuel to the electronic injection nozzles,
which inject fuel when energized by the ECU. The ECU monitors multiple
sensors to determine the timing and duration of the fuel injection
pulses.
